A Marketing Assistant is also known as a Marketing Officer. His responsibilities are similar and often confused with the job of Communication Assistant.

The responsibilities of a Marketing Assistant vary, depending on the structure of the company for which he works. He supports all employees in the marketing department by monitoring the offer of products and services, thus setting up a product/service catalogue while regularly monitoring orders, deliveries and production.

In addition, he supervises timetables by organizing the schedules of his superiors, planning travel arrangements and organizing appointments. The Marketing Assistant participates in the launch of a product or service by carrying out competitive monitoring and market research analyses.

The Marketing Assistant also manages phone calls (customers, suppliers, etc.) and may sometimes have to participate in sales meetings and look for suppliers.

What are the required skills and proficiencies for a Marketing Assistant?

  • Proficiency in computer tools (MS Office)
  • Fluency in Dutch and French is essential, any other foreign language is highly appreciated
  • Good marketing knowledge
  • Knowledge of how to use graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) can be a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good synthesizing and analyzing skills
  • Comfortable on the phone
